Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Beef Stew

1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 cup onion, chopped
5 carrots, cut into 1/2" to 1" pieces
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed beef broth
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried marjoram leaves
1/4 tsp pepper
12 new potatoes (1.5 pounds) cut into fourths
2 cups sliced mushrooms (about 5 oz)

Mix all ingredients except beef in slow cooker. Add beef on top but do not stir. Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 9 hours or until vegetables are tender. Stir well.

Dumplings

1.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp dried Thyme
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbs shortening
3/4 cup milk

Mix flour, thyme, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk, but don't overstir. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot stew. Cover and cook on high setting for 25-30 minutes
